CALLIGRAPHY - Tumblers:
These hand carved functional tumbles look and feel like a hand
lettered invitation. I work to capture the swirls and flourishes of a capital
letter on a love note or an announcement of a royal ball. I
carve in the fragile bone dry porcelain prior to firing or glazing.
I love the feel of the soft shapes and
the smooth surfaces.
Desert
Series - Tumblers:
Growing up in Chicago, I never really thought about the desert.
Five years ago moving to Las Vegas I discovered the desert and a
new inspiration. After Throwing and carving these tumblers they
are sprayed with slip and
sanded to pop the detail. I then paint on extra details prior to
firing as
necessary to bring the landscape to life.
